今回は5名の留学生が3つの家庭を訪問し、

参加者の体験談：The experience of Japanese Hospitali （Zhang, Shi-Yu）
I had the opportunity to visit a Japanese family and experience their culture. When we arrived at their home, the family warmly welcomed us and immediately started chatting with us about our day and our university life.
During lunchtime, we had a Takoyaki party. We made the Takoyaki ourselves, and it turned out to be really delicious! We added not only octopus but also hot dogs into the Takoyaki, which was a flavor I had never tried before. After enjoying the Takoyaki, we had Okonomiyaki prepared by the host mother. I was very impressed because I had never imagined that Okonomiyaki could be easily made at home with a frying pan.
After lunch, we tried shodo. I was surprised to see that almost every Japanese household seems to have a calligraphy set because they seem to have shodo class in their junior high school. We wrote our names and some words in different languages.
At the end of the visit, the family took us to Bingoya, a shop that sells traditional Japanese tableware. It was a really cool experience, since I would not have known the specific purposes of some of the tableware without their explanations.
Through this experience, I truly felt the spirit of Japanese omotenashi which I experienced their sincere hospitality.
