Cross-cultural communication

At Hosei, people from all over the world come together to achieve their personal goals. Each individual brings their own background and beliefs. Being surrounded by such diversity not only motivates me to become a better version of myself but also broadens my perspective on the world. At first, it was intimidating and overwhelming to talk to new people, but Hosei fosters an environment that encourages students to step out of their comfort zone and actively engage in university life. Many classes include group presentations in their syllabus, which gives an opportunity to learn from each other and also to create something unique by combining each individual's strengths. Furthermore, professors always ensure that communication within groups runs smoothly and help resolve conflicts of interest when they arise. In such a diverse atmosphere, mutual respect and collaboration become a key to effective communication. I believe that these skills will be irreplaceable regardless of the career path I choose since my experience at Hosei will allow me to easily join an international team or engage with diverse clients.

Campus life and friendship

Moreover, opportunities to meet up with classmates are not only limited to the classroom. Numerous events and clubs are open for everyone to enjoy. Personally, I prefer seasonal holidays such as Halloween or Christmas and always make sure to clear my schedule so I have a chance to participate in university parties, where I can express myself and have fun with my friends. In addition, the global lounge is a convenient place where attendees can talk with both international and Japanese students. In my first year in Japan, that space was a real gem, helping me build meaningful connections for years to come.

Comprehensive curriculum

The Global Business Program integrates disciplines from different fields such as business, humanities, economics and social studies. During my first year, numerous introductory courses, such as introduction to economics, operational management and others, helped me decide which career path I would like to pursue in the future. For this reason, for my second year, I am able to concentrate on the classes that would be most beneficial for me. Furthermore, GBP’s curriculum encourages students to additionally take courses from other programs. Personally, this variety is what makes my studies in the Global Business Program exciting. Knowing that alongside business classes, I can broaden my knowledge by studying interesting topics in the liberal arts motivates me greatly. In addition, most classes have a practical application that involves real-world cases. For example, simulations for operational management allowed me to apply the concepts I’ve learned during lectures, improving my critical thinking in the process.
