Notice on Living in a Dormitory

  1. HOSEI will assign the dormitories for ESOP students. Only those who are willing to be assigned to any dormitory or room may apply.
  2. New dormitories may be added to the list above.
  3. Students are able to decide the actual stay length during the dormitory application period. 
  4. The rent for the first semester should be paid before you arrive in Japan.
  5. Paying in a lump sum for every semester is the only option.
  6. Charges for electricity and water are covered by Hosei University. However, should monthly fees become excessively high due to misuse, such as excessive usage of air conditioner etc., she/he will be requested for the surcharge(s).
  7. Costs may vary according to the yearly revised contract between Hosei University and the dormitory management company.
  8. Dorm fees are Non-Refundable for any reason.
  9. Special meals are not offered in Type M / MB.
  10. For Visiting International (Fee-paying) students, please kindly understand that dormitory may NOT be completely guaranteed, depending on the overall number of applicants and room capacity.
  11. If you require special accommodations for dormitory arrangements, you must attach an official letter issued by home university during application (Later submission will NOT be accepted). Please also understand that we cannot guarantee that all requests for accommodations can be met.

Accommodation Other Than Dormitory

The Ichigaya campus of Hosei is in central Tokyo.
Accommodation rent of central Tokyo is about 70,000 JPY to 100,000 JPY per month.
Accommodation rent of suburbs is about 50,000 JPY to 60,000 JPY per month.

We recommend you require us to arrange a dormitory for you.
If student decide on other accommodation, she/he needs to be responsible for all related expensed.
Since in Japan, it is also necessary to pay additional (non-refundable) fees when signing a lease, so that the initial payment is likely to amount to two to five times the monthly rent.

Since the address registration (a moving-in notification) at the city office is mandatory for every ESOP student, please make sure your accommodation can be registered before you make a contract.
