Discover the Global Lounge at Ichigaya Campus, as shared by one of our exchange students.
The Global Lounge, affectionately known as the G Lounge, is one of the most vibrant communal spaces on campus, bringing together students from every corner of the world! It is more than just a study spot, it serves as a hub for culture, creativity, and connection. As soon as we walk in, we are greeted by the kindest ladies at the reception whose interactions always bring a smile to our faces and make the space feel instantly welcoming. At any moment you can hear a beautiful blend of languages — English, Japanese, Chinese, French and many more — creating an atmosphere that truly lives up to the word global. Whether you walk in to relax between classes or join one of the events hosted there, you are guaranteed to find something that makes you want to stay a bit longer.
Some of my favourite memories of university life have been made within the G Lounge and I’ve made many kind friends there. From never-ending spontaneous UNO battles that fill the room with laughter and anticipation, to the thoughtfully excecuted birthday celebrations where our table overflowed with cake and macarons, the G Lounge has always been a place where friendships deepen.
You can also enjoy seasonal events hosted by the wonderful Hosei University Buddies, such as the Halloween scavenger hunt my friends and I attended. They create a festive atmosphere and give students an excuse to dress up, take photos, and bond through laughter and joy
One of the most charming features of the space is its ever evolving whiteboard, where students leave doodles, anime characters and encouraging little messages! It’s a beautifully personalised reminder that the G Lounge is ultimately shaped by the wonderful souls that use it. In a busy and often overwhelming university environment, the Global Lounge stands out as a place to unwind and express yourself, where you will always be welcomed!
