A visit at Miwada Girls’ Junior High School

2026.10.23

Visiting Miwada Girls Junior High School in Tokyo, was a very nice way to spend an afternoon. We came from Italy, Russia, Germany, China and many other countries, and the students welcomed us with thoughtful presentations of their own. They study in English, and their English was impressive. It made it easy for us to share stories about where we come from and learn about one another. The girls showed a lot of enthusiasm and interest about our visit.

Sharing our culture

We each shared information that helped bring our cultures to their knowledge: familiar words, cultural manners, and the little things that make daily life different from one country to another.

The students paid a lot of attention and asked a lot of questions to get to know a different culture.

Their interest made the conversation feel natural, I have shared a lot about Italy such as food, transports, art, history but also about travels around the world and it was beautiful to see how interested and inspired the girls were.

The world beyond Japan

I was also impressed by how confidently the girls spoke English and introduced themselves.

They study English at school, and it was clear how much they had practiced and how eager they were to use it.

Their questions showed that learning was not only about grammar or textbooks, but also about connecting with people and understanding other cultures. I left feeling grateful for the afternoon and for the chance to meet students who are so interested in the world beyond Japan.
