Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2026

Step Into the World of Old Edo
The Kagurazaka Street Stage O-edo Tour 2026 is an annual cultural festival held in the historic Kagurazaka neighborhood, known for its blend of old Tokyo atmosphere and modern style. During the two-day event, the streets and shrines become an outdoor stage filled with traditional Japanese music and performing arts, while some shrines also offer limited-edition goshuin stamps.
Music Around Every Corner
A major highlight of the festival is Shinnai-nagashi (新内流し), a traditional strolling performance (流し芸能) in which performers in kimono walk through the stone-paved streets while singing and playing the shamisen. As the musicians move through the narrow alleys, visitors may suddenly hear their music and come across them by chance. This creates a warm and nostalgic atmosphere, making the area feel like a scene from old Tokyo.
Ancient Sounds on Modern Streets
Experiencing these performances outdoors is especially unique, since this style of music was traditionally performed mainly inside teahouses and traditional entertainment venues. It also gives visitors a chance to see how both younger and older generations continue to preserve and share these traditional sounds in modern Tokyo.
