Tokyo Big 6 University Baseball Tour

2025.05.07

The 26th of April I had the opportunity to watch a match of the Tokyo Big 6 University Baseball Tournament between Hosei University and Waseda University. Honestly, this was my first time attending a baseball game, however, the atmosphere in the stadium was truly unforgettable.

The voice of the Stadium

IMG_0606.JPG What captivated me the most was not the game itself, but the enthusiastic cheering and the infinite energy of the audience.

During the game, I was sitting next to an American student who was so kind as to explain to me the rules as the game went on. While I was asking her some questions about baseball I asked her also whether the cheering in America was like this and she immediately replied: “Absolutely not!”.

From the very beginning, everyone was shouting, singing, and following specific chants and gestures for each situation throughout the game. It was amazing watching the intensity of the cheering squads and fans of both teams.

Part of the Game

In the end, what I appreciated most was the sense of being actively engaged in the game, even as a spectator. It was not just a match to watch; it was an experience to live. Cheering with all your heart for your team, regardless of the result is a testimony of their unwavering loyalty and support. Witnessing this is a one-of-a-kind experience that everyone should have.
