Application for support on digitization service fee for textbooks due to the spread of Novel Coronavirus

If a foreign student who is unable to travel to Japan due to the spread of Novel Coronavirus uses textbook digitization service, the actual service fee will be provided by Hosei University at the maximum of 3,000 yen per student.Please check the followings and apply.

※There are companies that cut textbooks and then digitize them, and companies that do not cut paper and digitize them. Pleas carefully consider which digitization service company to use.

You are eligible to apply if:
1.you have a foreign nationality (including students who has dual nationality of Japan and foreign countries, and students who have resident status other than “Student”),
2.you currently reside in one of the foreign countries which are subject to refusal of landing under the provisions of the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (China, South Korea, etc.),
3.the textbooks are used in classes at Hosei University, and
4.you comply with the rules established by the company providing digitization service, keep the digitized textbooks for personal use only, and comply with the laws and regulations.

How to apply:
1.After purchasing textbooks by yourself, you use a digitization service *1.
2.You receive a receipt.
3.Please prepare the following required documents, and submit them by the application form.
4.After application, you will receive a confirmation email.
5.Around the end of July, Hosei University will start transfers to designated accounts* 2.

<Required documents>
Application form for support on digitization service fee of textbooks
– A receipt showing that you have used a textbook digitization service
– Your bank account information in Japan to which the refund will be made
Example: reverse page of the front cover of your bankbook (page containing the account number, etc.) or your cash card (with the account number, etc.)
-Documents proving that you have left Japan or entered a country other than Japan
Example: the page with departure stamp in your passport, copy of airline ticket/receipt, etc.

*1 Service contents may vary depending on each service provider, so please search a service provider by yourself. As one of the options, the following companies have digitization service.

*2. Refund must be made to your bank account in Japan. If you do not have an account in Japan, please open your account after you come to Japan, and submit the account information to Global Students and Scholars Support Office of the Global Education Center
