About

Mission and Goals

HOSEI University was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a grant recipient under the Top Global University Project in FY 2014. This project is one of the government’s initiatives to provide financial support for internationalizing university education. It aims to overcome the passive attitudes of the younger generations, and develop students who are empowered to act in a global world. Such students will serve as the global human resources necessary for improving Japan’s global competitiveness and international ties.

Mission and Goals

HOSEI University is currently undertaking new challenges guided by the key concept “Form Your Future Self.” One of these challenges is the development of global human resources: Throughout its history, HOSEI University has placed high priority on the development of independent thinkers. This vision is expressed in the university’s motto, “Liberty and Progress.” Through the Top Global University Project, these ideas have been expanded to emphasize the development of internationally active students in today’s increasingly borderless world, serving as a new strength for the university. International institutions, corporations, NPOs and NGOs require people who are capable of finding solutions to various world problems from a global perspective. This process requires communication in various languages, including English. We believe that developing the capacity to respond to rapid change today is the mission of our university, in line with the concepts of “Liberty and Progress” and “Form Your Future Self”. HOSEI University students, you are being challenged to move beyond your former selves, cross the borders that separate nations and experience the world! There you are sure to find your new selves.
